Another Grand Rapids Brewery to Permanently Close
After four years in business, a Grand Rapids brewery is shutting its doors.
The news of the closure of Brewery Nyx follows the recent announcement that Grand Rapids Brewing Company is permanently closed, with all equipment and decor up for auction.
Michigan's first and only gluten-free brewery, Brewery Nyx began brewing beer a few years ago and opened a taproom at 506 Oakland Ave. SW in July of 2022.
Owner Jessica Stricklen is originally from Grand Rapids. She moved to Portland and worked in the wine business. While she was out west, she saw the success of gluten-free breweries there and decided she wanted to open one in Michigan. She's been gluten free herself for more than a decade.

On April 19, Strickland announced that Brewery Nyx would be permanently closing due to "an unexpected and unfortunate turn of events".
She writes,
We started this journey 4 years ago, with the vision to bring you the most amazing gluten-free beer ever produced. We believe we accomplished that goal.
We want to express our sincere gratitude for your support and patronage. Your loyalty has meant the world to us, and it has been an honor, privilege, and absolute joy serving you!
The taproom will remain open for the time being, as they still have a lot of beer left.
Brewery Nyx is running a special of 50 percent off if you buy a case of beer from the taproom. It can be a mixed pack or all of the same style.
Taproom Hours are:
- Thursday: CLOSED
- Friday: 5pm - 10pm
- Saturday: 3pm - 10pm
- Sunday: 3pm - 10pm
