The kick off for the second annual Cider Week in Grand Rapids has begun!

According to WOOD TV, the goal of Cider Week is to highlight the West Michigan award winning cideries. Many restaurants and breweries are featuring food pairings and tap takeovers. While cider tours, the world's largest cider judging competition, the Gillett Bridge Festival, and more will happen all week.

With more than 45 cider-themed events, there is a lot to do for cider enthusiast. Cider Week runs Sunday May 13 to May 19.

For those gearing up for Cider Week, here are a list of events:

  • The Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition is from May 16 to 19 at the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Grand Rapids. There will be cider producers from all over the world competing for awards in 18 different categories.
  • Then there is the Gillett Bridge Festival at the Gillett Bridge in downtown Grand Rapids Saturday May 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets range from $10 to $25. The festival is open to the public.
  • 22 Michigan cideries will have cider to choose from plus there will be local music.
