What is the Intent of the Majority of Bomb Threats?

There are typically two ways most bomb threats are made. One is by telephone and the others come from internet posts on social media whether it be by phone or computer.

Most of these threats are usually intended to cause disruption, revenge, or pranks. We see this a lot in Michigan schools and schools all across the country. There have been plenty of Michigan students who have done this in order to get out of school for the day to avoid a test or they didn't do their homework.

What is the Penalty in Michigan for Making a Bomb Threat?

What may seem like a harmless prank, a first-time bomb threat in Michigan can earn you a 4-year prison sentence. A second or multiple offenses can get you 10 years behind prison walls. These penalties are just for false reports, but because some threats are considered terrorist threats those penalties are much higher.

Michigan Woman Makes Bomb Threat toward Her Former School

I only know where Hesperia, Michigan, is because my son and I often fish some lakes in the area. If you are unfamiliar with Hesperia, it is located in Newaygo and Oceana Counties just west of M37.

According to FOX 17, a 21-year-old former female student who lives in Oceana County has been arrested for making a false report/threat of terrorism on social media toward Hesperia Community Schools. Newaygo County Sheriff's Department and Michigan State Police K-9 unit searched the school to determine whether or not the threat was real and found nothing. The woman who made the threat is looking at a 20-year felony if convicted.
