The Rapture, Steve’s BBQ + More – May 20 FBHW Show Recap
Hour 1
Zane had another story this morning from the "table of wisdom" at the gym he goes to. He asked a guy he knew if he rode his motorcycle to the gym and the response was 100% unrelated to the question asked. He also had an interaction which caused him to go from zero to rage in about two seconds. James Cameron will be re-releasing Titanic in 3D to coincide with the 100 year anniversary of the boat going down. When we first brought this up, we all had the exact same vision in our mind about one particular scene that would be great in 3D!
Hour 2
We're going to Steve's house this weekend for a BBQ for his 30th birthday. Zane said he's going to get there early so he can avoid Steve's drunken brooding. Free Beer woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of glass breaking. He figured someone was breaking in to his house, so he grabbed a lead pipe and crawled military style in to the living room to defend his palace. It turned out that it was just a picture falling off the wall and breaking. A listener forwarded us a picture of the ad that is running in the paper in Portland for our live show next week. There's a noticeable mistake that you can see on the Photos page. We started talking this morning about a news article from San Francisco that talked about a group that was trying to make circumcisions under the age of 18 illegal. This led to some really funny circumcision talk, as strange as that sounds. We wrapped up the hour with a round of Name That Blank.
Hour 3
We checked out the video of Kirsten Dunst being absolutely mortified by the director of her latest film at the Cannes Film Festival. The director admitted while answering questions that he was a Nazi and understood where Hitler was coming from. Check out the awkwardness in the Video Reel! During that segment, we asked Hot Wings to bust out his patented German impression. The results were not good. Predicting the rapture has been great business for the guy who runs Family Radio. Since he made his prediction seven years ago that the world will end tomorrow, they have made over $100M! We checked out a link that had some excerpts from fan letters to Burt Reynolds from the Smokey and the Bandit era. You NEED to check these out in the Cool Links section.
Hour 4
In today's FBHW Report, we talked more about Arnold Schwarzenegger and how his movie career return has been put on hold and also played the audio of John Lithgow reading Newt Gingrich's press release. We came back from the break and played Free Beer's latest word scramble, then got back on the Newt Gingrich mocking train.
Hour 5
It was around this point in the show that the wheels kind of fell off. We had at least 3 awkward moments in one segment, then when reviewing them in the next segment, we had another! The show managed to get back on track and give an update on Botox mom, who is now saying that the entire story that she told was a hoax generated by the British tabloid, The Sun. We ended the show by playing some audio of John Stewart explaining Ben Stein's defense of French economist Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who has been accused of rape. His excuse for him was basically as effective as saying "nuh-uh!". Talk to you Monday!
