We've known for some time now that 'The Colbert Report' would say goodbye as Stephen moves on to bigger and better things at CBS' 'Late Show,' but we at last have a departure point. Comedy Central has officially scheduled the last 'Colbert Report' for mid December, but when can we run screaming at the gates to say goodbye?

Colbert made the announcement himself during the October 30 episode in promotion of his book, revealing that 'The Colbert Report' would satirize America for the last time on December 18, 2014. For the moment at least, CBS has not formalized when 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' will premiere, nor exactly when David Letterman will step down.

As anyone following the latest late-night 'Game of Thrones' will remember, Colbert's Comedy Central departure will see 'Daily Show' alum Larry Wilmore starting up 'The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore,' presumably at some point in 2015. Craig Ferguson will depart the 'Late Show' followup 'The Late Late Show,' leaving 'Into the Woods' star James Corden in his place, also at some point in 2015.

Well, what say you? Are you sad to see 'The Colbert Report' ending on December 18, taking with it the satirical Stephen Colbert? Are you looking forward to 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' heralding the rise of the real Stephen? Tell us you want from late-night's future in the comments!
