Hayley Atwell Wants More Peggy Carter in the MCU

One of the underrated aspects of Marvel’s cinematic universe is its overabundance of good characters. Take Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter, for example. Most other major movie franchises would jump at the opportunity to have a character as beloved as Peggy Carter; for Marvel, fairly or unfairly, she’s a character they can afford to leave behind. That is, until it was announced that Captain Marvel would take place sometime in the 1990s, opening the door for Atwell’s Carter to appear once more in the MCU. Would she be interested in coming back to play the character? You’d better believe it.

Watch Stan Lee Get Emotional Accepting His Disney Legends Award

A big part of every D23 convention is the Disney Legends Awards, where the company honors its own, celebrating artists and executives who have made major contributions to the Walt Disney Company. This year’s honorees include Oprah Winfrey, Mark Hamill, and the late Carrie Fisher. The Marvel portion of the event honored two of the comics company’s most important creators: Writer and editor Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Kirby passed away in 1994, so his son accepted his award on his behalf, but Stan “The Man” was on hand to accept his Disney Legends honor. He gave a great speech, and a very emotional one as well.

Let’s Investigate Some ‘Jessica Jones’ Secrets

By now, you’ve probably binge-watched Jessica Jones, the second Marvel series from Netflix. But did you know the show was originally set up at ABC under a totally different title? The series began life as A.K.A. Jessica Jones? The comic it was based on, Alias, wouldn’t have worked as the title of the TV series because of the Jessica Garner spy show; eventually producers decided the “A.K.A.” part of the title was unnecessary and shortened the name to just Jessica Jones. There’s a nod to the original title in every episode, however; each episode title begins with “A.K.A.” – Episode 3 of Season 1, for example, is called “A.K.A. It’s Called Whiskey.” That’s just one of the facts packed into the latest episode of the ScreenCrush series You Think You Know TV?

‘Logan’ Review: One Last Ride for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, And It’s a Good One

The first X-Men movie opened on July 14, 2000. A child born early that year would have just turned 17 by the time the tenth entry in the X-Men series, Logan, hits theaters next month. That is fortunate – viewers are going to need a driver’s license to get into this movie, which possesses the hardest R rating of any American superhero movie in history. In the past, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine would swing his razor-sharp adamantium claws and bad guys would simply fall to the ground. There was never any visible evidence of his brutality. There’s more graphic violence in Logan’s first scene – severed limbs, gruesome disembowlings – than in all of the other of the Wolverine and X-Men movies combined.

Our Favorite A-Holes Save the Galaxy (Again) in This New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ TV Spot

It’s funny how things work out. When Marvel was putting together the cast for Guardians of the Galaxy, they probably never dreamed that it would be former professional wrestler and MMA fighter Dave Bautista who would emerge as the film’s most likable character. And yet, with his deadpan line deliveries and awesome physicality, Bautista stood out among his live-action costars  —  I mean, nobody was going to beat Groot  —  as the funniest and most sympathetic of all the Guardians. Just like that, Bautista was a bonafide movie star and one of the biggest strengths of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Vincent D’Onofrio Says ‘No Chance’ of Kingpin Appearing in ‘The Defenders’

Marvel’s Netflix Defenders has yet to reveal much about Sigourney Weaver’s main villain, though one imagines the eight-episode teamup series will feature a number of smaller big bads. Don’t expect Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk to menace anyone other than Daredevil, however, as the actor says there’s “no chance” of a Defenders appearance (or a Spider-Man: Homecoming role).
