Soul Asylum and the Meat Puppets will team up for a U.S. tour this summer.

Soul Asylum will kick off its Fly Over Tour on April 8 and 9 in its home state of Minnesota.

From there, the band has stops scheduled through May, with John Mark Nelson, American Scarecrows and Carnage the Executioner as the opening acts.

The Meat Puppets join the tour June 5, when the bands return to Minneapolis. The pair of alt-rock greats will make stops in Chicago, Indianapolis, Kalamazoo, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, D.C., Brooklyn, Hartford and San Francisco.

Last year, Soul Asylum said they were nearly done with a new album, writing on their website, “We are a day or two away from having this album completely tracked. It has been an amazing process and we are getting so excited to finally share it with you.” When that album arrives, it will follow 2012's Delayed Reaction.

The Meat Puppets put out their 14th full-length, Rat Farm, back in 2013.
