During Wednesday night’s game between the Calgary Flames and the Nashville Predators, Flames' defenseman Dennis Wideman brutally cross-checked linesman Don Henderson.

Wideman was checked prior to his checking of Henderson, and many are wondering if it was a deliberate attack on the ref for missing a call on that play.

Wideman did make a brief statement on the incident via a reporter for the Calgary Herald:

According to ESPN, if it’s determined that Wideman did this deliberately, the punishment is an immediate 20 game suspension.

We hope we won't see any dirty plays like this at the GRD Pond Hockey Classic February 12-14 at Richmond Hill Park. Still haven't registered? That's okay! You can still get registered here.
