Seattle made headlines earlier this week after they became the first major U.S. city to completely ban plastic straws and utensils. In the U.K., though, they went all out and banned them throughout the entire country. So it's no surprise that we are now hearing about a local place doing the same to stay environmentally-friendly.

20 Monroe Live, a music and events venue in Downtown Grand Rapids, announced that they are going "straw-less." They posted it on their Facebook late last month with some disturbing facts about the harm associated with plastic straws.

If you prefer a straw while sippin' on your drink, 20 Monroe will have eco-friendly ones available upon request.

Currently, there are some cities around the U.S. who have a ban on plastic straws, and others who are considering it.
