I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Today's featured The After Effect, they answered a few questions for me below! Check them out, and if you're in a local band who wants to be featured fill out this form. I don’t just feature anyone, so don’t suck and you’ll get the Jackie stamp of approval ;) Find me on facebook too, to follow all your favorite local bands, and GRD news by clicking HERE

Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?
Chris Evans-Lead Microphone, Johnathan Swainston-Drums, Ryan Slagle-Bass, Matt Fairfield-Guitar and Alex Pearson-Guitar

When did the band get together, and how?
This band grew up together. We all met and started jamming together in the 7th grade (minus the addition of Chris in April 2012)! We were all friends and musicians and decided to be a "band" and start writing and playing music. Through the years, we've all grown up teaching each other new things and working hard to become better as a team. We wanted to be the tightest, most well rounded, most dedicated musicians in the business. All of us had the same vision, to make a living off of doing what we love...Writing and playing music together in this band.

How would you describe your music to someone?
Rock n' roll. Sub-genre's get too confusing, and we're not trying to do anything but have fun and share it with everyone else...that's what Rock n' roll is all about.

Who are some of the bands that influence your music?
This is a tough one. We've all been influenced by many different artists. We listen to metal, rock, funk, jazz, dubstep, blues...everything.
Our main influences would probably have to be AC/DC, Motley Crue, Kiss, SRV, Black Veil Brides, Black Crowes. I could honestly never name them all, everything influences us.

What other bands have your members been/are in?
We're loyalists, we've all only been in this band really. Our drummer John is a drummer for hire though. He plays with numerous of acts around the mitten.

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?
The Dockside Fever, In The Red, Wonderworld, and Wayland are some of our favorites.
But, every local band deserves a listen...so all of them. Support local music!

Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?

The Intersection. The sound system is huge so awesome, and the stage setup is sweet. A lot of our favorites have dripped sweat on the same stage, it's a really cool feeling to know we got to do it too.

Where can we catch you performing next?

Saturday, February 2nd @ The DAAC in Grand Rapids.
Our schedule can be seen at http://www.facebook.com/the.after.effect.rock/
