Gene Simmons is set to play solo shows in conjunction with Wizard World Comic Con events in five cities over the course of 2017. With the first performance in Cleveland coming up in two weeks, Simmons and his new band warmed up at a private corporate event this past Thursday (March 2).

Nearly 32 minutes of video footage from the show surfaced via the Facebook page of Phil Shouse, one of the guitarists on stage with Simmons. Performing without the makeup he made famous in Kiss, Simmons led the band through “Deuce,” “Radioactive,” “I Love It Loud,” “Christine Sixteen” a cover of Roy Head’s “Treat Her Right,” “Cold Gin” and “Calling Dr. Love.”

Sleaze Roxx notes that joining Simmons and Shouse are guitarist/bassist Jeremy Asbrock, guitarist Ryan Cook and drummer Jarred Pope. Those four men perform regularly as Thee Rock N’ Roll Residency, a cover band based out of Nashville whose Tuesday night slot at the Harp & Fiddle has featured guest appearances by past and present members of bands like Deep Purple, Cheap Trick and Whitesnake.

After the Cleveland weekend, Simmons will be appearing in St. Louis (April 8-9), Philadelphia (June 2-3), Chicago (Aug. 26-27) and Austin (Nov. 17-18). In addition to performing, he’ll be partaking in photo opportunities, autograph and Q&A sessions. For full details, visit Wizard World’s website.

This will essentially be Simmons’ first-ever solo tour. “I never did anything like that,” he said earlier this week. “When Wizard World and I agreed to do five events together, the idea of jumping up onstage and gulping it on for an hour or so came up. And I got a great bunch of guys, real rocking guys who are gonna get up with me, and we’ll play all the hits and have ourselves a good old time.”
