A word to the wise: When and/or if you lose a video game, calling the police and telling them that you killed someone's family isn't a good way to get video game revenge.

Obviously it's a felony to falsely report a crime.

People playing and losing Call of Duty games are doing just that, such as a Long Island, N.Y., hoax call this week.

Law enforcement authorities call it "swatting." For offenders, it can mean fines in the thousands of dollars and possible jail time.

This is just nuts.
