A Michigan woman was sentenced to jail for 20 days for driving while intoxicated. A few days into her sentence she fell from her bunk six feet while asleep and broke her neck. When sheriff deputies found her on the floor they told her repeatedly to get up and when she did not get up, they loaded her onto a wheelchair to an observation room and not an ambulance or hospital.

Maybe the deputies thought she was faking because this is something many inmates do, but she still wound up laying on the floor for 65 hours except for the half a dozen times deputies set her up. While on the ground the woman didn't eat or use the restroom.

According to WXYZ, Lisa Brown suffered a cervical spine fracture. Brown no longer has full use of one of her hands, and can barely walk, even after hours of rehabilitation.

When she does walk it is only for a short distance. Brown has hired an attorney and is suing St. Clair County, the Sheriff's Office, and CHS TX Inc. (a company hired to handle medical problems inside the jail).
