Consumers Energy wants your family to stay warm this winter. This year, its employees will participate in more than 30 Walks for Warmth in Michigan.

The money raised will go to Community Action Agencies to help people pay energy bills and make an impact on the lives of Michigan residents!

The thought of going through winter with little or no heat is chilling. But for hundreds of Michigan families, it’s reality.

Ongoing budget pressures at the federal and state levels mean that public heating assistance dollars are less certain. Plus, many nonprofits have fewer dollars to give.

To help warm homes, Consumers Energy is joining local Community Action Agencies to sponsor Walk for Warmth events across Michigan in February and March. Consumers Energy will match all funds raised by employees and any participating family and friends, thereby doubling heating assistance for those in need. Last year, thirty-one Community Action Agencies received over $300,000 on behalf of Consumers Energy and our generous employees and supporters.

Every dollar raised will go toward helping our most vulnerable customers, including those who are elderly and disabled, and those who can’t afford to pay their heating bills,” said Patti Poppe, Consumers Energy Vice President of Customer Experience, Rates and Regulation. “I’ve registered for several of the walks and hope you will join me. Together, our steps can help ensure that our customers and neighbors aren’t left in the cold this winter.”
