Mississippi Won’t Allow Teachers to Teach About Condoms – This Guy Improvises [Video]

In Mississippi, Sex Ed. teachers aren't allowed to teach kids about condoms. In fact, they're required by law to "stress" abstinence, and are prohibited from "any demonstration of how condoms or other contraceptives are applied."

That makes it hard for teachers to teach kids about safe sex, but of course they want kids to be safe. Especially when 76 percent of teenagers in the state have admitted to having sex before leaving high school, and they have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the county. So, one teacher decided to get creative. And used a sock(?).

Sinbad, Madigan, Breuer, Willman and Kosta to Perform at LaughFest’s Signature Event

Gilda's Laughfest announced Tuesday that this year’s Signature Event will celebrate the festival’s fifth year with a lineup of returning LaughFest comedians coming together for the first time

LaughFest also announced the remaining acts for the 2015 festival, which will run from March 5 to 15 at venues in Grand Rapids, Lowell and Holland.

The Signature Event will take place on Tuesday, March 10, at DeVos Performance Hall and will be hosted by Michael Kosta, the winner of LaughFest’s 2011 stand-up competition. The event will feature headlining acts from LaughFest’s past years, including Jim Breuer, Kathleen Madigan, Sinbad and Justin Willman.

The murder rate in Grand Rapids has dropped to its lowest level in 50 years.

The Grand Rapids Police Department released 2014 statistics Wednesday morning. In 2014, there were only six murders in Grand Rapids. In 2013, Grand Rapids saw 17 murders. Over the last 24 years, Grand Rapids has averaged just over 17 murders per year.

‘Significant’ Winter Weather Blowing In for Greater Grand Rapids, West Michigan [Infographic]

Winter is blasting in in an even bigger way.

The National Weather Service's Grand Rapids Office has issued a winter storm warning for this afternoon through Friday afternoon, calling the wintry blast coming our way in greater Grand Rapids and West Michigan as "significant."

Basically, more than a foot of snow is possible with heavy snow beginning about 2 p.m. EST and continuing through Friday. Wind gusts are forecast to be up to 45 miles per hour, with blowing and drifting snow and wind chills of 10 degrees below zero.
