ArtPrize Opening Ceremony Wednesday

Downtown Grand Rapids is electric every year when ArtPrize kicks off. Grand Valley State University will be hosting the opening of Artprize 10 Wednesday.

Its the 10th year of ArtPrize and the anticipation has been building for weeks as a variety of art exhibits have been slowly popping up around downtown Grand Rapids.

Grand Valley State University will begin ArtPrize September 19, 2018 with the Laker Marching Band who will perform near the L. V. Eberhard Center and Blue Bridge at 6:15 p.m. The band will march across the bridge as they will head to Rosa Parks Circle.

The Laker Marching Band consists of 215 people that will march in rows of 4 wide. They will march will move north on Campau Avenue, it will cross Louis St then head east on Campau Promenade, cross Monroe Avenue to Rosa Parks Circle for a full live performance.

Here is a list of the opening ceremony events:

6:15 p.m. - Band performs at Eberhard Center where an audience is allowed to attend

6:30 p.m. -  Band marches to Rosa Parks Circle

6:45 p.m. - Band Arrives at R.P.C.

6:45 p.m. - Dance Company at R.P.C.

7:00 p.m. - ArtPrize Welcome

7:05 p.m. - GVSU Marching Band, GVSU Dance Co & Laker marching Band Perform
