Why is the Sky RED in Oregon?

Cycling around the internet this morning were pictures that looked straight up from a horror film. Many Oregon residents have taken to social media to document the insidiousness-looking skies. 

No this isn't your next favorite metal album cover. This is a strange reality for some Oregonians. Wildfires in Oregon have made their governor declare a state of emergency, urging residents to evacuate throughout Southern Oregon.

The sky color change is a result of all of the ash and soot in the air compounded with the ongoing fires coming up from northern California.
