This morning when I came in this thing was smack dab in the middle of Ottawa Avenue, and then just as quickly it disappeared. What was it?

I have a knack for finding weird things in the road. In the early morning hours, you're apt to find a wide assortment of crap tossed freely onto city streets.

So it wasn't surprising to see a big metal thing protruding from Ottawa Avenue in front of our building. It appeared to be either a camera tripod or perhaps a surveying tool.

When I got up close to it, I thought I could just grab it and move it off to the side of the road, but it had a big spring on the bottom and wasn't going to move easily, so I left it here.

By the time I got up to the studio, it was gone. Or it wasn't in the road, because traffic was moving freely down the street from my vantage point, and no longer stopping or swerving around it.

There's been a lot of construction on Ottawa recently, so I assume it was some sort of tool in regard to that.

Or maybe it was some sort of obelisk or monolith related to the UFO sighting from earlier this month. I didn't see any monkeys beating bones around it, so I'm sure it wasn't the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
