Did You Know These Video Games Are Set In Michigan?
Video games are a multi-billion-dollar industry that has undergone a significant transformation in the societal zeitgeist. Originally considered only for nerds and losers, games like Mario Kart and, more recently, Fortnite have helped normalize the activity worldwide.

Like any other medium, video games can take place in fictional worlds, such as Skyrim from the Elder Scrolls series, the Mushroom Kingdom in the Mario series, or Night City from Cyberpunk 2077. Meanwhile, spots can be inspired by real-life places, such as Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto 5 (a near-identical recreation of Los Angeles) or New Vegas from the Fallout series.
But other times, games are set in real-world locations, as seen in the Assassin's Creed series, Tom Clancy's The Division, or inFAMOUS: Second Son. Bigger cities are popular locations for stories like this, but other times, it's the smaller corners of a state that can offer some thrilling stories.

For developers, it turns out Michigan is one of those locations. The state offers one of the most well-known cities in the world, Detroit, but also boasts numerous smaller cities and wilderness areas, such as those in the Upper Peninsula, that are ripe for storytelling.
For this list, we're excluding traditional sports games like Madden or MLB The Show, which feature stadiums set in these cities. Instead, we're focusing on games that use Michigan as the setting for a bigger narrative or gameplay.
