Local Players Join PASS FC, Grand Rapids' New Women's Soccer Team

Grand Rapids has been experiencing a boom in semi-pro sporting events and now we're getting another one. Riding off the success of the new Grand Rapids Rise Volleyball team, the United Women's Soccer League has announced Grand Rapids will be the base for a new women's semi-pro soccer team with play starting this summer. The coolest part? You could be on it.

What is the PASS F.C.?

PASS F.C. is a non-profit soccer club founded to help bridge the gap between collegiate and professional play. The club started in 2001 and has worked to give kids with diverse backgrounds a chance to develop important life skills through playing soccer. The club has athletes of all ages, ranging from 5 to adult semi-pro. This team comes one year after the debut of a semi-pro men's team. There are currently around 400 athletes in the program.

What To Expect

The United Women's Soccer League has chosen PASS F.C. as its designated team in West Michigan, with an emphasis on recruiting local players "consisting of college athletes, recent graduates, and professional athletes." The team will play their first games at Northview High School and will play in the Great Lakes conference which features teams from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, New York West, Ohio, Pennsylvania West, and West Virginia.

Alongside traditional recruiting, the Club will be hosting open tryouts on Sunday, March 10th from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm.

Syracuse Soccer wins NCCA Championship in Epic Title Game (PICS)

The Syracuse men’s soccer team took on the Indiana Hoosiers Monday in the NCAA championship match at Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina. And what a game it was! The Orange outlasted the Hoosiers after nearly two hours of gameplay followed by eight rounds of penalty kicks winning by a final score of 7-6. It was an unbelievable ending to an improbable season as this year's soccer team was picked to finish near the bottom of the ACC - let alone compete for a title.
