Tiny Kittens Fall From Vehicle, Rescued By Michigan Police
Two tiny kittens just went from a rough start to living their best lives—thanks to some big-hearted staff at a Michigan police department!

According to Union City Police Chief Chris Mathis, about six weeks ago staff at the department heard meowing outside their front door. Cameras captured what happened beforehand: video shows a kitten tumbling from a moving car in front of the station.
Thankfully, staff jumped into action and brought the shaken kitten inside to safety. But the story didn’t end there. Not long after, another kitten showed up—timid and traumatized as well.

The pair were named Ellis and Ezra (which made me smile—I've got rescue cats with "E" names too: brothers Emmett and Ezra!), and it didn’t take long for them to warm up and get comfy in the office. Staff brought in toys, treats, and cozy cat houses, and got them checked out at the vet.
Mathis shared in a post to Facebook that over the following weeks, the shy kittens came out of their shells even more and completely stole the hearts of everyone at the department:
Somewhere along the way they stopped being rescued kittens and became part of our daily life. Part of our routine. Part of our family. We saved them that day but over the last six weeks they've given our whole office something, too: joy, comfort and a reminder that compassion matters...From being tossed out on the road to becoming the most spoiled members of our office.
According to WWMT-3, Mathis says it's not clear if the cats were thrown from the vehicle or tumbled out from underneath it—which is a good reminder that animals are seeking warmth this time of year and may stow away under cars or in wheel wells.

Turns out, these kittens did end up in quite the lucky spot though, as the department is also across the street from a veterinarian's office!
Now Ellis and Ezra are happy, safe, and well-loved—and look like their “helping” with out with paperwork and whatnot from the nearest warm desk.
