Cedar Point is definitely my happy place in Sandusky, Ohio.

I have been going ever since I was a kid and try to go at least once every year.

I have been going to Cedar Point for so long, I can remember when the Blue Streak was the biggest coaster in the park.

I can even remember when the Corkscrew was the new big deal at Cedar Point.

Cedar Point has come a long way over the last 153 years with coasters like the Millineum Force and many others giving the park the title of "Roller Coaster Capital of the World."

The Steel Vengeance replaced the Meanstreak in the back of the park and sure was a great upgrade. But there was another ride that paved the way for some of the latest coasters and was a fan favorite until it shut down a couple of years ago and that was the Top Thrill Dragster.

Top Thrill Dragster

Cedar Point launched the Top Thrill Dragster in 2003 sending riders 400 feet high at 120 mph. This ride was as close as you could get to getting inside a real dragster and heading down the U.S. 131 drag strip. There was a lot of anticipation while waiting in line for the ride that definitely lived up to its name.

Unfortunately due to several problems, in the later years of the Top Thrill Dragster, the ride was often shut down due to maintenance and eventually a part came off and injured someone on the ground leading to the ride's retirement.

Top Thrill 2

Coming in 2024 Cedar Point has announced a brand new improved version of Top Thrill Dragster with Top Thrill 2.

Top Thrill 2 will be reminiscent of Top Thrill Dragster when it starts but now will have a whole other section that is even higher, more thrilling, and the ride will be longer.

Top Thrill 2 will officially be the tallest and fastest triple-launch strata roller coaster in the world. The new version will launch riders 3 times instead of one. The first launch will get you started at 74 mph then turns into a backward launch that goes 101 mph. The third and final launch will send riders 128 mph climbing 420 feet at a 90-degree verticle climb. You can buy tickets for next year here for your chance to be first in line for the Top Thrill 2.
