Just as Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees were icons of 1980's horror films, so were Samara and Kayako in the early 2000's. The long-haired ladies from The Ring and The Grudge terrified audiences around the world, and now it appears that they'll appear together in what is guaranteed to be a very scary film.

Don't get me wrong, Freddy Vs. Jason set a standard for horror movie mashups, but Sadako Vs. Kayako (Sadako is the Japanese name for Samara) looks pretty awesome. From the looks of the trailer, it seems that two girls watch the tape from The Ring in the house from The Grudge. Maybe the house is the only place in Japan that's old enough to have a working VHS player? Seriously, Samara, it's 2016, get your evil s**t on Blu-Ray.

It'll definitely be interesting to see where the "Vs." aspect plays in. Will Samara and Kayako compete to see who kills the girls first? Will one try to take out the other? In any event, there will certainly be a lot of long, dark hair and crawling. The trailer below is in Japanese, and although comicbook.com says the film hits Japanese theaters in June, there's been no announcement yet whether the film will have an American release date.

Since both The Ring and The Grudge originated in Japan and became popular in the US, it's not unlikely that we'll see an English translation someday.
