The Lions Have Officially Hit Rock Bottom

Even in their milestone 0-16 season, the Lions never hit the low they hit Sunday. So I guess this means there's nowhere to go but up. Right? Right!?

A blistering 44-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles set another lowly team record on Sunday.

Here's the harsh truth:

The 38 point loss was the worst loss the Lions have ever suffered to a team with a losing record.

Let that sink in. Even when they failed to win a game in 2008, they never lost that bad to a crappy team. The Eagles, if you don't know, were a crap 2-5 heading into the game.

That's a load of crappiness that we've never achieved before, in a long history of crappiness.

So that can only mean one thing. We've hit our rock bottom, and from now on, we're going to slowly get better, until we win the Super Bowl in, oh, about 2026 or so.

On top of that, attendance for Lions this season is at the lowest it's been since 2009, the season after we went winless.

I knew going in this would be a rebuilding year, but Sunday's effort left me dumbstruck. I have never seen a team go from a brilliant effort to a lackluster effort so quickly.

To go toe to toe with one of the best teams in the league in the Rams, with a shot at winning, only to fail to show up against a fellow crap team like the Eagles is disheartening to say the least.

I appreciate that Coach Dan Campbell bleeds his heart out after every loss, with motivational tweets like the one below, but maybe it's time to go quiet, and slowly build this team without chirping, and surprise us all by winning.

I will be a fan of this team until the day I die, but enough "we're working on it" platitudes.

Well, here's to having the number on  draft pick. And somehow we'll screw that up.
