Both directions of I-94 are closed between Kalamazoo and Battle Creek because of a multi-vehicle crash involving semi-trucks. The interstate is closed between Galesburg and Climax, WZZM-13, Michigan State Police and the Michigan Department of Transportation report.

Several emergency crews are being dispatched to a hazardous-materials situation on Grand Rapids' west side. Public safety scanner traffic indicates a chlorine spill or leak at Haviland in the 400 block of Ann Street NW.

Slocum's soon-to-be born baby also died. Brady Oestrike, the suspect in the murders, took his own life on Thursday (July 17) after a chase with police.

A few weeks ago, the folks from WZZM-13 in Grand Rapids stopped by the 97.9 WGRD studio with a camera to interview us after the show to put together a "behind the scenes" piece about us. Then this morning, while Producer Joe was guest hosting with Lauren Stanton on WZZM-13's morning news show, the ABC affiliate aired the piece. You can see it in its entirety below.

After 19 years in the local news business, including the last eleven at WZZM-13, Morning Anchor Derek Francis is leaving to join a well-known public relations firm in Grand Rapids. His last day was today. Among those wishing him well were Free Beer, Hot Wings and Eric Zane of "The Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show," which broadcasts from the studios of 97.9 WGRD.

Last night in Detroit, Metalheads flocked to the the city to check out the rare occasion when the Swedish Death Metal group WATAIN hits the town for a bad ass show. Sadly I missed it, but my friends from MOSHPIT NATION checked it out. Also, it's not everyday where WATAIN checks in on WZZM 13's TAKE FIVE studios!

By now you've seen the video of the toddler from China who fell out of a five story building and (almost) into the arms of a group of postal carriers. The stunning video is only made better by the commentary from the guys - watch and laugh.
