Student Forced to Clean Up Someone Else’s Urine & Mom is Pissed
Sometimes kids get blamed for things other kids have done and this has one Michigan mother outraged that her son allegedly had to clean up urine that wasn't his.
School Authorities Sometimes Get it Right and Wrong
There are rules to follow in school. We all had to follow them but occasionally someone would break a rule and someone else would wind up taking the fall but did nothing wrong.

Michigan has a lot of great teachers and principals in schools but some are more friendly than others. With groups of kids coming in and out of classes and with all the different personalities teachers deal with, kids are bound to get disciplined for doing something wrong.
Did you ever act up in class and the punishment was the teacher telling you to put your head down? Oh, the shame but times were simpler when I was growing up and kids didn't get as wild at school as they do today. Many of today's schools have metal detectors, security cameras, and some armed security or police presence. Schools have more ways to catch students doing things wrong and should make sure they are right.

Student Forced to Clean Up Someone Else's Urine & Mom is Pissed
According to WXYZ, a 9-year-old boy attending a Utica elementary school was allegedly told by a substitute teacher to clean up urine on the floor with a paper towel since he was the last one to use the bathroom. The child's mother said her son was upset and when she asked him what was wrong he said, "Mom, the teacher made me get a paper towel and clean somebody's pee up."
The mother said her son was humiliated and embarrassed. When she spoke with the school principal who was substituting for her son's teacher, the principal allegedly said, "It wasn't a custodian's job to clean up the bathroom." That statement would make any parent infuriated.

Utica Community Schools issued the following statement:
The district has become aware of a report that a student was involved in cleaning up urine in a school bathroom. District protocols require that our facilities staff or other trained personnel clean and manage our restrooms and classrooms.
Currently, the situation is being investigated to ensure that proper protocols are understood and being followed within the building. As this matter involves the privacy of students and staff members, the district will not comment further at this time.
The health and safety of our students remains a top priority for Utica Community Schools. UCS appreciates its strong partnership with parents and community members as together we provide every child with an education of excellence.
The mother of the boy plans to move her kids to a different school for the next school year.
