New 25-Site RV Campground Opening Up in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

I'm always on the hunt for new-to-me vacation spots in Michigan. Sure, I've got my favorites like Ludington and Traverse City — but there are so many incredible places, you can never run out of new towns, resorts, and attractions to explore!

Each year around my birthday in June my husband and I like to take a little trip. Last year I wanted to go somewhere I'd never been but had always heard was awesome: Torch Lake. We spent two days in an adorable cabin right across from a public beach. It was absolutely amazing! The water really is as turquoise and gorgeous as they say —you really do feel like you're in the Caribbean!

So in hunting for a new spot for our trip this year, I came across a campground opening up in the Upper Peninsula. I know RV parks fill up SO fast in the months leading up to summer, and this place looks so cool, I wanted to share!

Stargazer's U.P Campground is a North Ironwood Acres resort on the Black River Scenic Byway in Ironwood. There's so much to explore nearby as it's just minutes from waterfalls, Copper Peak, and Lake Superior.

If you love the outdoors, man, what a great spot for hiking, biking, kayaking, and more!

Stargazer's has 25 full hookup sites, so you'll have access to electricity, water, and sewer. There's also a bathhouse with flush toilets and showers, fire pits, picnic tables, even a playground for the kiddos!

Some of my favorite amenities are the nature trails with direct access to the Black River and the paddling and fishing pond. Ooh! But most of all, I love that there is an on-site lodge! Black River Lodge has WIFI, a general store, pool table, darts, and even a cocktail bar!

What do you think? Sound like a cool place? The owners recommend making a reservation rather than walking up. The targeted opening date for Stargazer's U.P. Campground is May 8, 2025, with the season ending October 15.
