You Can Now Own an Actual Piece of the Mackinac Bridge for $20
Every Michigander knows how iconic the Mackinac Bridge is.
Whether it's memories of family summer road trips crammed into the backseat, the excitement of watching the green suspension towers rise above the trees on I-75, or that low humming rumble under your tires the second you hit the center grate deck, the Mighty Mac is special to so many.

Spanning five miles to connect our two peninsulas, it's a true engineering wonder with main towers soaring 552 feet above the water and enough cable wire inside to wrap around the earth twice.
And now, you can bring a piece of the Mackinac Bridge home with you!

If you remember past state auctions where folks were bidding thousands of dollars on massive two-ton sections of steel deck, these are much easier to manage. The Mackinac Bridge Authority just restocked those sought-after, souvenir-sized pieces of original bridge grating at their administration office in St. Ignace.

You do have to physically make the trip Up North to get one, though. The bridge authority is not taking online orders, holding items over the phone, or shipping anything out. It is strictly first-come, first-served at the counter.

The administration office sits right next to the toll booths on the north end of the bridge and stays open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
These little souvenirs tend to sell out super quickly, so if you're heading north, you might want to swing by the office in St. Ignace and grab one while they're still available!
