Six Flags Sells Michigan’s Adventure in Part of $331M Deal
A Summer Tradition in West Michigan
Every spring in West Michigan, there is a familiar signal that summer is not far away: the gates reopening at Michigan’s Adventure.

For decades, the Muskegon-area park has been a summer staple for the region, drawing crowds for its roller coasters, water slides, and one of the biggest amusement parks in the state.
Now, that longtime local attraction is about to be under new ownership.
The Sale to EPR Properties
Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced Thursday it is selling seven parks across North America, including Michigan’s Adventure, to EPR Properties in a deal valued at $331 million.
Other parks include:
- Schlitterbahn Waterpark Galveston (Galveston, TX)
- Six Flags Great Escape (Queensbury, NY)
- Six Flags La Ronde (Montreal, QC)
- Six Flags St. Louis (St. Louis, MO)
- Valleyfair (Minneapolis, MN)
- Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, MO)
The sale comes not long after Michigan’s Adventure became part of the current Six Flags company in the first place.

In 2024, Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair, the company that had owned Michigan’s Adventure for years. The merger created the current Six Flags Entertainment Corporation and combined dozens of parks under one company.
Less than two years later, Michigan’s Adventure, along with six other parks, is being sold off as the company reshapes its portfolio.
The buyer, EPR Properties, plans to partner with Enchanted Parks to operate the six U.S. parks included in the deal.
Six Flags president and CEO John Reilly stated in a release,
We’re confident the parks will be in good hands with EPR and its partners, who have strong experience operating parks of this quality and scale. At the same time, this move allows Six Flags to concentrate on the parks that we believe offer the greatest opportunities for growth and long-term success. Our goal is to continue creating amazing experiences for all our guests, and this agreement helps us stay focused on that commitment.

What This Means for Visitors
Michigan's Adventures says that for now, visitors should not notice much difference. The park is expected to operate normally during the 2026 season, and season passes already sold will still be honored, including multi-park access.

The sale is expected to close this spring, marking the latest chapter in the park’s long history as a Michigan summer destination. Opening day for the 2026 season is set for May 22.
