Rep. Justin Amash (I-Mich.) has announced the times and locations for five public meetings in West Michigan on Wednesday, August 21, including stops in Grand Rapids, Caledonia and Hastings.

The appearances will draw extra interest since Amash announced on July 4 that he was leaving the Republican party. He wrote, "I’ve become disenchanted with party politics and frightened by what I see from it. The two-party system has evolved into an existential threat to American principles and institutions."

There has been speculation that Amash will run for President as a third-party candidate.

Amash has said President Trump has committed "impeachable conduct" while Trump has called Amash a "lightweight" and a "loser."
