It's always a big game when GVSU and Ferris State meet on the football field, but the stakes are even higher this weekend as both teams are ranked in the top three nationally.

If you've never had a chance to see this rivalry in person, you can expect a great matchup and possibly a record crowd. Most sections of Lubbers Stadium in Allendale are already sold out for the game which is on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:00 p.m.

The No. 2 Lakers (6-0) have put up at least 35 points four straight weeks, while they have not given up more than 20 points in a game all season.

The No. 3 Bulldogs (6-0) have put up similar numbers. FSU's closest game came two weeks ago with a 28-21 win over Ashland (3-3).

Grand Valley has a slight advantage in the latest poll, but Ferris State has the advantage in the series over the last few years.

In 2017, FSU won a dramatic game in Big Rapids 28-27, with a blocked extra point attempt ultimately proving to be the difference.

In 2016, GVSU won the regular season matchup 35-23 as part of their 12-0 start, but Ferris beat Grand Valley 47-32 in the playoffs. Both games were at Lubbers Stadium.

In 2015, GVSU lost to FSU in Allendale during the regular season 61-24, but GVSU beat FSU in Big Rapids in the playoffs, 38-34.

Saturday's game will be broadcast online on ESPN3/ESPN+.
