NFL to Debate Tush Push Ban at Spring Owners Meeting
NFL owners are voting on banning the Eagles' “Tush Push,” a nearly unstoppable play that's sparked debate over fairness and player safety.
The "Tush Push"
The Philadelphia Eagles are the NFL team that popularized a short-yardage play called the "Tush Push or Brotherly Shove." The play takes the quarterback sneak to a new level: a couple of players get behind the QB and push him across the first-down marker or the endzone, and it is highly effective.
The Eagles are not the only NFL team to adopt the tush push; it's a favorite play of the Buffalo Bills, who use it often. The Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys have also had success running the play.

The Green Bay Packers have had success with the tush push, but the irony is that they are the team that wants to ban the play since it's almost impossible to defend.
NFL Revisits Tush Push Ban at Owners Meeting
Team owners are meeting this week in Minnesota for the annual spring meetings. One of the big topics is the proposed ban on the tush push. The Philadelphia Eagles created the play in 2020 and are the most successful. Other teams that use the play have raised concerns about quarterback safety.
According to WZZM, a vote will take place this week that needs 24 of the 32 teams to pass the ban on the tush push. Owners will also look at prohibiting pushing, pulling, lifting, or encircling a runner by any offensive player, not specific to quarterback assists, and charging any team for doing so with a 10-yard penalty.

We will see if player safety is enough to ban the tush push.
