Back in April, we told you about "Smoke on the Water" set for July 24th, 2021. Hosted by Park Place Provisionary, the weed bash was set to happen near the Muskegon River, in the dispensary's parking lots along Park Street. Food trucks, live music, lawn games, and of course, pot were planned for the event.

Well, "Smoke on the Water" has been called off, according to WZZM-13:

Park Place Provisionary organizers said there were issues with liability insurance and current laws. While the issue has since been fixed, organizers say it was not soon enough to hold the event this year.

Organizers do say they are considering hosting the event in 2022.

Park Place recently went through a rebrand, becoming part of the New Standard cannabis company. New Standard currently operates nine marijuana facilities throughout the state, most recently opening a location in Saugatuck last month.

What about the other West Michigan weed celebration?

Looks like the Niles Cannabis Festival is still on for July 31, 2021, rain on shine, at Riverfront Park South.  You can choose your time slot: 10a.m.-4p.m. or 4p.m.-10p.m. -- or you can stay all day with a VIP pass.

According to organizers,

We will showcase some of the best cannabis brands in the state, as well as a variety of food vendors and local bands as the soundtrack for the day!

Have you ever tried a THC or CBD mocktail? Have you seen a pipe-frisbee fly? Are you ready to get lost in the magic of the 60s? This party is for you!

Tickets are required and attendees must be over 21. More info here.
