When Was the First $2 Bill Printed?

The design of the $2 bill has changed 6 times since it was first printed in 1862. As you can see from the photo above Thomas Jefferson was not on the bill yet. Jefferson would later get added to the $2 bill in 1869.

Just like some old U.S. coins can be more valuable than face value, so can some paper currency. Some $2 bills are still floating around Michigan, and some are worth thousands more than their face value.

Which $2 Bills Are Worth Thousands?

Did you ever get any birthday card money as a kid and there was a $2 bill inside? Did you save those $2 bills? I know I got a couple as a kid and still have them tucked away but have moved so many times I'm not sure what box they are in so hopefully you know where you stashed yours.

If you have a low serial numbered 2003 $2 bill like "L 00000007" it could be worth $2400 to $4000. If you have a $2 bill with a red seal it can be worth up to $4500 but those bills were all printed between 1862 and 1963.
