Like the auto industry, the ATV and Snowmobile industry is slowly making electric vehicles but where can you charge them in Michigan?

For years automakers have been making hybrids and now full electric vehicles.

The kicker has been where to charge those vehicles. Thanks to grants there are charging stations around the state where the bigger cities are and more stations keep popping up.

With more charging stations opening up for vehicles across Michigan, more people will be buying them making the state a much more eco-friendly place to live.

I have a co-worker that has an electric chainsaw and loves it but he has a place to charge that. Over the years electric weed whackers and lawnmowers have become more popular but people have a place to charge those at home. Now electric ATVs and snowmobiles are on the rise but where in Michigan can you charge those up if you are actively riding?

Like the auto industry, more ATVs and snowmobile manufacturers are building electric models but where do you charge those?

Many Michigan towns rely on the income of people who ride ATVs and snowmobiles around the state. I have a snowmobile that I have only ridden once in the last two years because there has not been any snow around long in West Michigan. Most people who love to trail ride ATVs and snowmobiles head somewhere north to get in some riding. Snowmobilers have had to cross the Mighty Mac to find significant snow to trail ride. One Michigan county is seizing the opportunity to attract those who own electric ATVs and snowmobiles.

According to the WUPM Facebook page, Ontonogan County has received a grant for $700,000 to set up 4 charging stations for electric off-road vehicles. This won't help those who ride in the Lower Peninsula but it's a great start to the Upper Peninsula where snowmobiling and ATVs are a way of life.

100 miles of trails in Ontogagon, Bergaland, White Pine, and Greenland will now have a charging station for electric ATVs and snowmobiles. Change is coming so I suspect this trend of off-road charging stations will continue over time across Michigan.
