The foodie publication's pick for the best regional fast food in Michigan is Buddy's Pizza.

The business first opened as Buddy's Rendezvous, a speakeasy on Six Mile and Conant Street in Detroit. In 1946, the owner, Gus Guerra, is credited with creating Detroit-style pizza. He and his team used forged-steel pans from local automotive plants to their thick-crusted, square pizza. How "Michigan" is that?!

Now one of the country's most popular pizza styles, Detroit pizza is known by its iconic shape and cheesy, caramelized crust.

Buddy's Pizza has more than 20 locations across the state, including Metro Detroit, Ann Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Portage. Note that some are take-out only.
