Fratelli’s Italian Kitchen is gearing up for its grand opening in Lowell.

West Side Grand Rapids Favorite Expanding to Lowell

If you know the name, you probably know the original Fratelli's on Bridge Street in Grand Rapids. Owners Vincenzo “Enzo” Cannizzo and Maria Cannizzo first opened the restaurant back in 2009, and it quickly became a West Side staple for late-night pizza by the slice.

In 2019, the shop closed briefly for a remodel. The rebuild turned Fratelli’s from a simple slice shop into a two-part concept. The original pizzeria stayed, but next door they built out Fratelli’s Italian Kitchen & Bar, a full sit-down restaurant designed around family recipes Maria brought with her from Italy, plus a more modern “new Italian” approach with richer sauces and updated takes on classics.

Now they’re officially opening their doors in Lowell at 123 West Main Street.

Fratelli's Italian Restaurant Grand Opening Week Lineup in Lowell

Fratelli’s shared their opening week details on social media, timing their launch right alongside Lowell's Homecoming Week celebrations:

Monday, Sept 28: Ribbon Cutting at 5 p.m., followed by an invite-only Friends & Family event.
Tuesday & Wednesday (Sept 29–30): Soft Opening with a limited menu from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Thursday, Oct 1: Official Grand Opening! Doors open at 11 a.m.
Friday, Oct 2: Open for game day food, drinks, and homecoming football celebration

As far as the menu goes, expect it to be similar to the Grand Rapids locations with small plates like antipasto boards, bruschetta, and arancini, plus salads, sandwiches, fresh pasta like Nonna’s Gnocchi, and signature pizzas like Sicilian-style, fig and goat cheese, burrata, and diavolo.

Plus, if you’re looking to grab a drink with dinner, the owners recently confirmed they’ve secured their liquor license, so expect a full menu of beer, wine, and cocktails.
