West Side Grand Rapids Favorite to Expand

If you know the name, you probably know the original Fratelli's on Bridge Street in Grand Rapids. Owners Vincenzo “Enzo” Cannizzo and Maria Cannizzo first opened the restaurant back in 2009, and it quickly became a West Side staple for late-night pizza by the slice.

In 2019, the shop closed briefly for a remodel. The rebuild turned Fratelli’s from a simple slice shop into a two-part concept. The original pizzeria stayed, but next door they built out Fratelli’s Italian Kitchen & Bar, a full sit-down restaurant designed around family recipes Maria brought with her from Italy, plus a more modern “new Italian” approach with richer sauces and updated takes on classics.

Now they’re expanding again!

Frattelli's Italian Restaurant Coming to Lowell

Fratelli’s has announced a new restaurant in Lowell. In a post to social media the owners say,

After being a West Side Grand Rapids staple, we're thrilled to bring our homemade Italian recipes and family traditions to the Lowell community.

I didn't immediately see mention of the address, but it appears Maria did post in a Lowell Facebook group that Fratelli's is plotted for 123 West Main Street.

A menu for the new restaurant hasn't been shared yet, but if it's like the Grand Rapids eateries, expect small plates like antipasto boards, bruschetta, and arancini, plus salads, sandwiches, pastas, and of course, Fratelli's signature pizza.

That includes everything from classic margherita and Sicilian-style pies to more specialty options like fig and goat cheese, burrata, and diavolo.
