A New Spot for Margaritas, Street Tacos, and Authentic Mexican Favorites Just Opened in Forest Hills
My girlfriends and I try to get together at least every few months to catch up and eat dinner out. We have tried all sorts of places, but Mexican is usually at the top of the list, due to our mutual love of margaritas and chips and guac. And if it is a brand new restaurant? Even better!

Recently we discovered El Cerrito Cocina Mexicana on Lake Drive in Eastown, and my crew thoroughly approved. Next on our list is Los Potrillos in downtown Grand Rapids. Now, there is another fresh option to add to the rotation!

Azul Agave Mexican Cuisine & Bar is in its soft-opening phase in Forest Hills at 884 Forest Hill Ave SE. Neighbors and local foodies have been eagerly watching the space ever since the signage first went up earlier this year, wondering when doors would open. Well, that time has come!

If the name sounds familiar, that is because it comes with a solid West Michigan track record. Owner Maricela Melendez also operates the original Azul Agave in Wayland, as well as El Burrito Feliz in Saugatuck. The new Forest Hills spot takes over the former Marco New American Bistro building.
While a dedicated menu for this location hasn't been shared online yet, it sounds like you can expect the offerings to mirror the Wayland lineup. Appetizers feature options like a variety of nachos, street corn, seafood dip, and salchipapas made with fries, sausage, and a homemade mayo dressing.

For entrees, enjoy traditional favorites like enchiladas, street tacos, tamales, chalupas, chimichangas, flautas, burritos, and sizzling fajitas, along with seafood dishes and build-your-own salad bowls.
They also offer vegetarian plates, plus a few unexpected twists like tequila lime shrimp linguini, street corn carbonara, and Mexican Hawaiian or smoked brisket pizzas. To top it all off, you can pair your meal with signature blue agave margaritas.

The street tacos and margaritas are already getting early praise online!

Which, speaking of drinks, the restaurant's name is inspired by the blue agave fields of Mexico, where tequila was born—so you know the bar is going to be a highlight. In addition to a variety of tequilas and margaritas, you'll find cocktails and Mexican beer.
According to their current soft-opening hours listed on Google, Azul Agave in Forest Hills is open seven days a week, serving from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
