What is the furthest you have ever hiked? 10 miles? 20 miles? 100 miles? How about 1,000 miles?

The only serious hike I was ever a part of was when I was a young teenager hanging out with my cousin and some of his friends in Eastern Kentucky when we spent a day hiking up a mountain.

It was pretty fun except for the bobcat that chased us when we got too close to her den. We spent a day climbing up the mountain, going through caves and climbing rocks, having a campfire, and cooking some lunch. Then we headed back down the mountain.

The hiker's name is Haley Andrus. One day Andrus had an idea that she was going to hike the coastline of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.

This is a pretty lofty goal of making over a 1,000-mile hike so Andrus to this random idea very seriously by planning the hike for months.

A hike this size takes a lot of thought like weather, how much to hike each day, packing supplies, eating, sleeping, staying hydrated, bugs, and when to rest.

Fox 17 reported that Andrus said, "It took me 67 walking days, walking 18 to 20 miles a day. The first two weeks were rough."

Rain, sleeping on the ground, and sunshine can be pretty hard on a person but Andrus was certainly up to the task and very proud of her accomplishment. She plans on doing a 300-mile hike in Vermont and someday will do the coastline of the Upper Peninsula.
