Traverse City Makes (Another) Appearance On Jeopardy!
It's always a treat to see your state pop up where you don't expect it. I say that, and I know it's ironic, since Jeopardy has trivia about U.S. states every day, but because the show's topics vary so widely, it's still a surprise to see your state appear.

Yet, Michigan was featured on November 3rd during the Double Jeopardy! portion of the game in one of the most worthwhile categories. Here's how Michigan appeared this week, and why it may sound familiar.

Traverse City Gets a Shoutout
On November 3rd, during the Double Jeopardy! portion of the game, the categories were Antonyms, To The Contrary!, Broadway Musicals By Characters, Earth Science, Dual Biographies, and U.S. "City" Cities. Traverse City appeared in U.S. "City" Cities. For $2000, the question was:
If you're traveling across northern Michigan, you might stop in this city for some fun at the National Cherry Festival
Contestant Tamara O'Flaherty, a lawyer from New York, New York, answered correctly. Obviously, the answer is Traverse City, the "Cherry Capital of the World".
It's not the first time Traverse City has been an answer on Jeopardy!. Back in 2019, Traverse City was the subject of another Double Jeopardy!, where the question was
We cannot tell a lie -- the national this festival in Traverse City, Michigan includes pie-eating & pit spit contests.
It's been a pretty big year for Michigan on Jeopardy. Earlier this year, Jamie Ding of Grosse Pointe went on an incredible 31-game winning streak and won $882,605 in prize money. He credited his victories to Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell.
