Mayor Bliss Proclaims Civil Emergency, Enacts 7PM Curfew for Sunday and Monday
Following rioting in the streets of downtown Grand Rapids Saturday night, mayor Rosalynn Bliss has enacted a 7 p.m. curfew for Sunday and Monday nights.
Bliss also declared a civil emergency, which means that the National Guard can come in to protect the city from overnight riots.
The curfew hours will be from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. Anyone found in violation of the curfew will be charged with a misdemeanor, which will result in up to 90 days in jail and up to $500 in fines.
Community members may travel to and from work during the curfew.
This is a developing story.
