Mayor Arrested After Allegedly Allowing Graves to Be Covered to Build Cell Phone Tower
Ah, Shamokin, Penn. You may remember this small town from a story we talked about last year where a fire at the local Dunkin' Donuts basically brought the town to a screeching halt. Well, Shamokin is back in the news and it's not for a good reason!
Shamokin Mayor Bill Milbrand has been arrested and charged with 42 counts, 14 of which are felonies! Milbrand greenlit the building of a cell phone tower in the local Shamokin cemetery, but with the understanding that no grave sites would be altered in any way. Well, that was not the case, as more than a dozen grave sites were covered with dirt and damaged during the construction. And the fingers are being pointed at Milbrand, saying that he OK'd the desecration of the sites.
