Saugatuck Coffee Roaster Opens New Brunch Restaurant, Café

A Saugatuck coffee business is branching out with a new brunch restaurant and a café!

Part of the community for 30 years, Uncommon Coffee Roasters has opened two new establishments downtown Saugatuck. MALU and MALU Café sit on the corner of Culver and Griffith.

MALU is a tribute to owner Bruno Nobre’s mother. Nobre says, “You could feel the love and passion in my mother’s cooking. With our commitment to quality, creativity, and community, we look forward to sharing her same passion and becoming a dining destination for both locals and visitors."

The restaurant's head chef is Paul Adams, an executive chef of multiple West Michigan eateries. He's been featured in magazines, on television, and has even cooked for presidents.

MALU serves American brunch favorites, Uncommon Coffee Roasters drinks, and Mocktails. You'll find locally sourced ingredients plus gluten-free, plant-based, and vegetarian options.

The menu includes Breakfast Burritos, Grilled Cheese, Wagyu Burgers, Avocado Toast, Salads, Omelets, Frittatas, Benedicts, Biscuits and Gravy, Waffles, Sausage Rolls, Chicken and Grits, and more.

Owners describe MALU as having an "inviting menu with cozy seating arrangements and warm aesthetics."

MALU CAFE serves Uncommon’s specialty coffee and freshly baked goods and pastries. You'll find more than 15 Coffee Drinks, Brix Soda, Tea, Chai, Flavored Lemonades, plus Brazilian treats like Guava Cookies and Honey Cake, Muffins, Cookies, Croissants, Brownies, and more.
