Ludington State Park Has Reopened! See How Things Look Now
Ludington State Park is one of Michigan's most picturesque parks, situated in a unique area between Lake Hamlin and Lake Michigan. It has one of Michigan's coolest lighthouses (in my opinion), and the area has miles of trails to explore. If you're not at the park, you can visit downtown Ludington.

However, the park has been in dire need of an overhaul of its roads, trails, and other facilities for years. For the last 10 months, things in Ludington have been quite different since the park partially closed in September 2024, as it underwent major renovations. The park recently reopened ahead of schedule, and the changes are a welcome overhaul.
Here's a side-by-side.
Ludington State Park Construction
According to Visit Ludington, the main goals of this project were to "realign and repave" the park's entrance, various parking lots, and the entire main park road. The park also added/improved walkways for pedestrians.

Now that construction is complete, it's clear that the long wait for the construction was worth it, as the renovations look fantastic. Funding for this was made possible through Governor Whitmer's Building Michigan Together Plan.
Before and After
A YouTuber named Michigan Explorer planned ahead and filmed all the areas of the park that would be reconstructed, posting a video of the before-and-after. You can view the entire video below or explore some of its highlights below.
