I'll admit to being wary of buying things on Craigslist. I know there are awful people out there. And the stories in the news are scary.

Last year in Grand Rapids there was a triple murder involving Craigslist and recently a couple from Georgia was found dead after meeting up with someone who enticed them with an ad for a classic car on the site.

So, I think it's pretty normal to be nervous about Craigslist. And I think it's awesome that the Lowell Police Department is offering up their police station as a place to conduct Craigslist business.

In a post to their Facebook page, the Lowell Police Department offered up the lobby of their station for Craigslist buyers and sellers to meet to complete transactions, saying:

"This will definitely weed out the bad guys trying to scam or harm the citizens of this fine community!"

For transactions of larger items, the Lowell PD has offered use of their parking lot.

The police department’s lobby at 111 N. Monroe Street, Lowell, is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
