There is no doubt about what Lions running back David Montgomery brings to the team.

Montgomery has carried the ball 185 times for 775 yards and that may not seem like much but he is also not the only running back with Jahmyr Gibbs getting 50% of the carries. One thing is for sure about other NFL teams is when they are playing the Lions and Montgomery is on the field they have to be on him or he will leave you in the dust.

Montgomery is a beast to be reckoned with averaging over 4 yards per carry and getting into the endzone 12 times this season so far. Montgomery is key to the Lions offense.

The past Sunday the Lions got their second loss of the season against the Buffalo Bills 48-42. The game wasn't the only thing the Lions lost because defensive tackle Alim McNeil, cornerback Carton Davis, and special teams Khalil Dorsey were put on injured reserve. David Montgomery left in the second quarter of the game with what some think is a season ending knee injury.

According to FOX 17, Detroit Lions coach dan Campbell said, "We're in a holding pattern as of right now. That's a positive." Montgomery is not on the injured reserve list yet because he and the team are seeing another opinion regarding his knee injury.

With 16 defensive players for the Lions out due to injury, the team needs all the offense it can get which is much better when Montgomery is on the field. Hopefully the second opinion has "Knuckles" back in the lineup by the playoffs. Either way, Lions fans love David Montgomery and wish him well in his recovery.
