What Legendary Michigan Musician Do You Listen to the Most?
A Detroit subreddit discussion asked Michiganders which Michigan music legend they listen to most: Bob Seger, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper, or Ted Nugent. The responses poured in, including plenty of artists left off the list.
Michigan Has Produced Countless Legendary Artists
From Motown, classic rock and metal to R&B, rap, hip-hop, pop and more, Michigan has produced some truly legendary artists. Acts like the MC5 helped Michigan ‘Kick Out the Jams,” while Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band became one of the Motor City’s biggest-selling acts. Michigan has also given us icons like Stevie Wonder, Madonna and Eminem.
Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop are two of the biggest shock rockers of all time, inspiring countless artists who followed. With so many legendary and diverse musicians coming from Michigan, locals recently weighed in on which one is their favorite.

Who's the Michigan Music Legend You Play the Most?
It would take a while to name all the legends from the Mitten State, but one Reddit post asked Michiganders to choose between Bob Seger, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent. The thread also sparked plenty of love for other Michigan artists.
While most of the votes went to Iggy Pop, Bob Seger, Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent, the MC5 also received plenty of love, while Jack White had a surprisingly strong showing in the thread.
Bob Seger received plenty of love in the thread, while Glenn Frey also earned a few nods thanks to his connection to the Eagles and the fact that he was also from Michigan.
Like Seger, Alice Cooper received plenty of love, with many posters having nothing but great things to say about the legendary rocker.
Unfortunately, Ted Nugent didn’t receive much love. The thread was pretty brutal toward him, and if there were a crown for Michigan’s most hated artist, “The Nuge” might have taken it. IInterestingly, Kid Rock wasn’t mentioned by name, but posters alluded to him twice, both times by posters who were glad he wasn’t on the list.
The race came down to Seger and Iggy Pop. In the end, Iggy took the top spot as Michigan’s favorite of the four. Seger finished a close second, while Alice Cooper rounded out the top three.
