Lead poisoning is a serious issue in West Michigan and the Kent County Health Department need your help in finding a solution.

According to WZZM, there will be two public forums hosted by the Kent County Health Department on Thursday, May 31 to develop a long term plan devised the eliminate lead poisoning and protect children.

Both forums will be in Grand Rapids and the Health Department located on 700 Fuller Avenue NE in Grand Rapids. The first session will run from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and the second will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The Michigan child Lead Exposure Elimination commission has put together a five year action plan that will be covered in both sessions.

The goal of the program is to focus on creating a lead free Michigan for kids. The new plan was built upon the work of the forum Child Lead Poisoning Elimination Board.
