Kinect…PS Move…Wii….aka…get off your butt
Seems like all the craze with video games lately, is getting off your ass and moving. To this day we enjoy playing games, sitting, and noob tubing people. But everyone, including your grandma, is playing video games....why? Because of simplified motion controls.
I have tried each one of these motion controllers for each system, and here are my results.
- Wii (Nintendo): Well, who hasn't tried this by now. It is still fun and easy to use, but the gimmick is over. Everyone is very used to the controls, and now people want to sit. Each game that has come out lately for the system tells you to *shake* the wii-mote, as opposed to flinging at your TV. It is accurate? Yes. Is it fun? It depends on the games you play. Wii is so full of crappy games, you must be careful of what you get. So my advice, enjoy the simple motion controls, but rent a game before you blow 50 big ones.
- PS Move (Playstation 3): Just like the Wii, you are holding a controller again. It is also insanely accurate...why? Because it uses light detection as opposed to Wii's infrared sensor. So you get more of an accurate motion response. It also uses the Playstation Eye Toy, which is a unique difference from the Wii, but allows better motion accuracy. The games? Well, Sony got it right with this one. They are constantly updating their current titles to utilize the motion controller, which in the end, saves you the green stuff, and makes the PS Move, more valuable and useful. So if you have a PS3, this is something you may want to try out.
- Kinect (Xbox360): Coming into this thing, I figured the technology was not there, and it wouldn't work well. Slap me across the face, I was wrong.....kinda. This thing is awesome! You don't need any controller as your whole body is the controller! It requires 6 feet of space, so move your couches, and put the dog outside. Your whole body is moving, and you are required to MOVE! As to where with Wii and PS Move, you can kinda cheat (sit down and flick your wrist fatty). Along with the motion controls, you can utilize the microphone, how? Watch and DVD and tell it to *Stop,* and the DVD will stop. The games? Well, some are good, most are bad. Give it a bit to grow, and I am sure it will give us our money worth.
This was a quick review of the motion controls your can get now, and my impression of them. My preferred motion controller is Kinect, because it is unique and fun, but they all have their pro's and con's. Try them all out. IT' THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE.......or whatever.
