Kent County Sheriff's Office Featured on 'The Shift'

The Kent County Sheriff's Office is stepping into the spotlight in a new episode of “The Shift,” a YouTube series from Red Watch Productions that drops you right into a full ride-along. The show follows different law enforcement agencies from around the country for one full shift, giving viewers a front-row seat to what patrol work actually looks like.

Premiering earlier this year, "The Shift" isn't your typical polished police show. No narration. No staged moments. Just deputies going from call to call, handling whatever comes their way, from the routine stuff to situations that can escalate fast.

What the Kent County Episode Shows

In the Kent County episode, that includes everything from daytime traffic stops and warrant arrests to a look inside the county jail during the booking process. When night falls, the pace and tone shift. Deputies respond to a possible breaking and entering with the help of a drone, handle a domestic situation, and conduct a traffic stop that takes an interesting turn.

There is even an appearance from Michigan Senator Mark Huizenga, who joins a ride-along and gets a firsthand look at how quickly deputies have to assess and respond to situations.

Zach Hamelton, executive producer and founder of Red Watch Productions said this about the episode:

It is a wild ride with a lot of twists and turns, but more importantly, it is real. We're incredibly thankful to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office for being so welcoming and allowing us to showcase the great work the men and women of KCSO do every day.
